With a long-standing film career, Walter Hugo Khouri began his journey in cinema in the 1950s and directed his last film in 1998. Among his 26 feature films, he directed adventure, epic, suspense, and erotic drama films, while also casting a unique gaze on members of Brazil’s upper class, with a particular focus on romantic, sexual, and family relationships.

His distinctive style created atmospheres inspired by Gothic fiction and featured recurring characters such as Marcelo, a man in the midst of an existential crisis, and Ana, a woman who presented herself as an enigma to the male protagonist.
